The types of problems caused by soaps (including calcium naphthenates) can be wide – ranging and the impact on oil company revenue can be very significant. In view of the impact that these materials can have on production, it is essential to understand the types of fluids that cause these problems, aggravating factors in their formation and the various mitigation options. This presentation presents some experiences of practicalities of soap management and options and success of mitigation options.
